I/O modules are used to expand a controller’s capability to receive input signals and send output signals to field devices. Input modules provide an interface for devices such as switches, sensors, and transmitters, allowing the controller to monitor system conditions. Output modules send control signals to devices such as actuators, valves, and relays to regulate system operation.
