The CN1116 is ebm-papst's wall-mounted Modbus Display & Control unit for EC fan systems. It provides a single interface for monitoring, commissioning, and controlling up to 100 ebm-papst EC fans connected over an RS485 Modbus network, while simultaneously exposing real-time data to a Building Management System (BMS) or IoT datalogger via a second RS485 Modbus slave port.

The built-in LCD and four-button keypad allow engineers to read fan status, set operating parameters, and configure the controller on-site without additional tooling. A Modbus auto-addressing routine speeds commissioning by automatically scanning and assigning addresses to connected fans.

Operating Modes

• Monitor — Displays pre-defined EC fan parameters (status, speed, power, warnings) on the LCD and RS485 Modbus slave port. A fault condition triggers the on-board LED and volt-free relay output. An optional 0–10V differential pressure sensor can be connected to display differential pressure or calculate volume flow.
• Monitor & Control — All Monitor functions plus fan speed control via a 0–10V external signal, a third-party Modbus master device, or the keypad directly.
• Constant Volume / Constant Pressure — Uses one or more 0–10V differential pressure sensors to maintain a constant volume or pressure setpoint. Setpoint is configurable via the keypad or the RS485 Modbus slave port.
• Modbus Relay — Relays all Modbus commands received on the slave port directly to the EC fans, enabling individual fan control and full access to each fan's Modbus register map.
